2 people treated for smoke inhalation after east Las Vegas Valley garage fire

Two people were treated for smoke inhalation after a garage fire in the eastern Las Vegas Valley.

The Las Vegas Department responded to a fire about 10 a.m. in a large, detached garage behind a one-story house located at 1409 Stevens St. near Pecos Road and Owens Avenue.

Firefighters gained control of the fire after about 10 minutes and kept it from spreading to the main house, the department said.

The two people with minor smoke inhalation were treated at the scene and released, department spokesman Tim Szymanski said.

The American Red Cross is assisting five adults, Szymanski said.

The cause and estimated damage of the fire are under investigation.
