Apartment damaged in early morning fire

An early Thursday morning apartment blaze displaced three women and caused over $100,000 in damage, the Clark County Fire Department said.

Firefighters were called to 6869 Tamarus St., near Sunset and Paradise roads, about 3:30 a.m. Upon arrival they encountered a fire to a second-story balcony closet that was extending into the attic and the unit’s walls, fire officials said.

Firefighters ventilated the fire through the roof to prevent the flames from spreading further, fire officials said.

Surrounding apartment units were evacuated and no injuries were reported, fire officials said.

The American Red Cross was helping the three women and a cat that had been rescued from the fire, fire officials said.

The blaze was under investigation.
