Body found in dumpster near Durango and Sahara

The body of an elderly man was found in an apartment complex dumpster Tuesday, but Las Vegas police investigators don’t suspect foul play.

Officers were called just before 7 a.m. to Allanza at the Lakes, in the 8600 block of Starboard Drive, near South Durango Drive and Sahara Avenue, where they found the man, Metro homicide detective Lt. Ray Steiber said.

The man lived in the apartment complex, Steiber said.

Police think he may have died from a medical problem. It is unclear how he ended up in the dumpster.

An officer at the scene said that there was no evidence of trauma to the man’s body and that there was nothing missing from his nearby apartment. He lived alone, according to the officer.

The death and how he died remain under investigation. The Clark County coroner’s office will identify the man.
