A 2-year-old child was resuscitated after being found at the bottom of a swimming pool Thursday night, Las Vegas police said.
The child was found in a pool in the 5500 block of Rose Thicket Street, near Ann Road and Rainbow Boulevard, about 8 p.m. and taken to Summerlin Hospital Medical Center.
Drowning can occur in seconds, in any water which covers a child’s nose and mouth, according to the Clark County Fire Department. Parents with swimming pools are encouraged to surround pools with a gate or fence, get children swimming lessons, make sure they are wearing flotation devices and always have adult supervision, the county said.
