Coroner IDs man fatally shot near Boulevard Mall

A man who was fatally shot over the weekend at an apartment complex near the Boulevard Mall has been identified.

He is Nickey Zarwood, 24, of Philadelphia, the Clark County coroner’s office said Monday.

Zarwood was found by Las Vegas police at the Oasis Bay Apartments, 1555 E. Katie Ave, near the intersection of Twain Avenue and Maryland Parkway, about 3:45 p.m. Saturday. Police said he had one gunshot wound.

The investigation showed that Zarwood was standing next to a sports car when he and the driver began arguing, police said. The driver got out of the car and shot Zarwood.

Zarwood was able to run a short distance before collapsing near the apartment complex office, police said. He died after being taken to the hospital.

Police initially said Zarwood died at University Medical Center, but later said he was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he died.

Metro could only describe the shooter as a light-skinned black or Hispanic man who drove a grey or black sports car with tinted windows.
