Coroner IDs teen killed in crash at Sloan and Sahara

A teenager who died after a car crashed into a light pole early Sunday has been identified by the Clark County coroner’s office.

She is Guadalupe Rodriguez, 17, of Las Vegas, the coroner’s office said Thursday.

Rodriguez was thrown from a front passenger seat of a 2008 Toyota Avalon traveling at an “extremely high rate of speed,” police said, after the driver lost control and crashed into a pole near Sahara Avenue and South Sloan Lane.

It happened about 12:30 a.m. Sunday, police said, and Rodriguez died at the scene.

Two other female passengers, including one who is 13, were hospitalized with critical injuries, police said on Sunday.

Tristan Hicks, 18, who police said was driving, and another passenger fled the scene. Hicks was later arrested near his home.
