The Clark County coroner's office named the man police say was killed by his teenage son.
John O'Neil, 53, died from multiple sharp force injuries Wednesday night. Metro discovered the Las Vegas resident deceased in a garage at 1133 Plantation Court, near the intersection of Charleston Boulevard and Tenaya Way.
Police arrested O'Neil's 17-year-old son in connection with the death. He was booked into the county Juvenile Detention Center to face one count of murder with a deadly weapon. Unless the boy is tried as an adult, Metro cannot legally release his identity.
The boy was initially unresponsive when police found him but was later determined to be uninjured, police said Thursday.
A woman had asked police to visit the home to check on her ex-husband and son because she hadn't heard from either of them, homicide Detective Sgt. Matthew Sanford said at the scene Wednesday night. Police said the mother was worried that her son had been having mental health issues recently.
