Dice game cheating led to fatal shooting
Last week’s deadly shooting that left a 24-year-old man dead stemmed from cheating during a dice game and $80, according to a Las Vegas police arrest report.
Anishya Douglas, 21, faces murder and burglary charges related to the Aug. 6 shooting death of Christopher Jones at 1750 Marion Drive, near Nellis Boulevard and Owens Avenue.
Jones accused Douglas, who also goes by “Nene,” of cheating during an Aug. 5 game of dice, the report said. A witness told police Jones admitted that he beat Douglas up, “choked her out for twenty minutes” and took $80 from her pocket after the game.
The two confronted each other the next day after Douglas apparently posted on her social media account that Jones robbed her.
“Well I got my thing and you got your thing, what you wanna do?” Jones asked Douglas, according to the report.
Seconds later, Jones reached for the front door, but Douglas pulled out her handgun and shot Jones three times in the back. She then shot him three or four more times after he was on the floor, before running out the door, the report said.
Douglas was arrested on Wednesday in Ogden, Utah and is awaiting extradition, police said.
