A La Carte: Dining events and news for April 21-27, 2016

Fremont Eats: The city of Las Vegas is planning to host several food trucks from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. April 23 at the Llama Lot, 910 E. Fremont St. This food truck party is taking place downtown at the parking lot owned by the Downtown Project and managed by city of Las Vegas Parking Services. The event will include music.

Women in Our Culinary Industry: The guest chef dinner is planned for 6:30 p.m. April 26 at Honey Salt, 1031 S. Rampart Blvd., and includes owner and restauranteur Elizabeth Blau, chef Megan Romano and Master Sommelier Lindsey Geddes. Tickets are $65 per person and must be purchased in advance by visiting HoneySalt.com.

School fundraiser: Moe’s Southwest Grill, 10965 Lavender Hill Drive, No. 120, is planning a fundraiser to support Palo Verde High School from 5 to 8 p.m. April 26. Guests can make a $10 donation in exchange for all-you-can-eat Moe’s (one entree per person per trip through the line) with 70 percent of the net sales to be donated to the high school. Crazy Pita donation: Crazy Pita Rotisserie & Grill recently donated $1,685.40 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The money was raised through a donation drive hosted during March at all Crazy Pita locations.

Vino With a View: Ascaya development is planning the event with wine tastings and refreshments from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays at 1 Ascaya Blvd. Call 702-978-5800.

Royal Tea: The second event to benefit Discovery Children’s Museum is planned from 1 to 3 p.m. May 1 at Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas, 3752 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Funds raised will support the museum’s arts, science and humanities educational programming. The Royal Tea is designed for families and friends with or without children to enjoy the pomp and circumstance of a royal tea and royal court entertainment. Chefs for Kids Dinner and Auction: The 25th anniversary event is planned to start at 5:30 p.m. May 7 at the South Point, 9777 Las Vegas Blvd. South. The evening’s Legacy Award honors Clark County Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick and the Corporate Award honors Anderson Dairy, both for their ongoing support of the Chefs for Kids program. Taste of Town Square: Town Square Las Vegas is set to host culinary events May 13-14, with 25 percent of the proceeds from each event donated to Nevada Public Radio, HomeAid Southern Nevada and New Vista Community. Events include:

— From 7 to 10 p.m. May 13, Social Dinner. Tickets are $75 per person, and attendees must be 21 or older.

— From noon to 4 p.m. May 14, Backyard BBQ. Tickets range from $10 to $35. The event is for all ages.

The Made Experience: Triple George Grill and the Mob Museum invite guests to travel back to a time when neighborhood speakeasys were a regular occurrence and classic mobsters ruled the town. Dress for Success and Crave partnership: Through May 4, Dress for Success Southern Nevada, a local nonprofit that provides gently used professional clothing and career counseling services to empower women to achieve economic independence, is set to partner with Crave American Kitchen & Sushi Bar in Downtown Summerlin, 10970 Rosemary Park Drive, as part of the restaurant group’s Crave Cares program. Upcoming support events include:

— Round up checks to the nearest dollar or add any donation amount, and proceeds will benefit Dress for Success Southern Nevada, through Crave America’s partnership with Round It Up America.

— A percentage of the proceeds from items purchased off the Crave Cares chef specials menu will benefit Dress for Success Southern Nevada.

— Drop off new or gently used professional clothing, shoes and accessories in the designated donation area inside the restaurant.
