PICK OF THE WEEK:

SUSHI KOMA

Array

Desert Breeze Plaza, 8665 W. Flamingo Road at South Durango drive, 702-453-8897

Eating sushi requires the right setting, and Sushi Koma has intimacy and charm to go along with the fresh sushi that is served late into the night. There is even an all-you-can-eat sushi lunch ($21.95 from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and dinner ($25.95 from 4 p.m. to 3 a.m.) that makes this little hideaway restaurant a real find. Popular special rolls are Arizona, Kamikaze, Big B (shrimp tempura, thin-sliced beef, green onions), Ninja, Pinnacle, Twist Octopus, Tropicana, Mountain, Almost Fire, Red Worm and Double D, a spider roll with cream cheese wrapped with eel and avocado. Featured sushi includes sea urchin, crab, salmon roe, squid, halibut, sweet shrimp and albacore. Entrees are served throughout the day and include teriyaki (beef, chicken, salmon), shrimp and vegetable tempura, West Beach salmon (breaded salmon with garlic beans) and teriyaki beef and chicken bowls. Several unique appetizers are seafood tostada, Brie and grape quesadilla, sashimi roll, seared tuna carpaccio, deep-fried oysters and green mussels. Among the salads are salmon skin, seaweed and barbecue beef or chicken. Lunch specials are served daily from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and start at $10.95. Special rolls begin at $11.95. Sushi Koma is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 3 a.m.
