CSI Mini-Camp/Demystifying the Forensic Sciences: Families can visit with forensic scientists from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 21 during a CSI Mini-Camp at the Las Vegas Natural History Museum, 900 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Attendees will experience criminal investigation techniques such as bone identification, fingerprinting and DNA analysis with law enforcement officers, crime scene investigators, evidence analysts and medical examiners. The museum's Live Paleo-Lab will be open for visitors to interact with paleontological work being done on dinosaur and pre-historic mammal fossils excavated locally. UNLV featured in Nova Special: "Rise of the Robots" is set to air at 9 p.m. Feb. 24 on PBS. The documentary follows the engineers and teams of DARP as their robots compete in real-world challenges designed to eventually have robots replace humans in disaster relief situations. UNLV professor Paul Oh and his team of students competed in the international DARPA robotics challenge, placing eighth in the world.

Town Hall: Clark County Commissioners Marilyn Kirkpatrick and Chris Giunchigliani plan to host a town hall meeting at 6 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Robert "Bob" Price Recreation Center, 2050 Bonnie Lane. The open forum will gather input about improving the appearance of Lake Mead Boulevard. Representatives of NV Energy also will be on hand to share information about different sustainability programs. County staff from Public Works, Parks and Recreation and code enforcement will be on hand as will Public Guardian Kathleen Buchanan.

Walk with the Heart of a Child: The Children's Heart Foundation invites all Las Vegans to participate in the 13th annual Walk with the Heart of a Child at 7 a.m. Feb. 27 at the Fashion Show mall, 3200 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Registration, entertainment, raffles and a Kids Zone are set to start at 7 a.m., with the walk beginning at 8 a.m. Fees are $25 for adults and $15 for virtual walkers (those who cannot attend the event or physically participate), active-duty military, students and seniors. Color Run: The fifth annual event, dubbed the "Happiest 5K on the Planet, is set for 8 a.m. Feb, 27 in downtown Las Vegas, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit Three Square food bank. Runners, walkers or sprinters of all ages and athletic abilities will be bathed in an array of colors and island scents as they cruise through a scene of palm trees, vibrant arches and festive music. Upon finishing, Color Runners can celebrate at the Rainbow Beach during the Finish Festival with a color throw celebration, music, dancing and photo opportunities. Pahrump Hot Air Balloon Festival: The annual event is set for noon Feb. 26 and 8 a.m. Feb. 27 and 28 at Petrack Park, 150 state Route 160, in Pahrump, about 60 miles west of Las Vegas. The family-friendly festival is set to bring together more than 20 hot air balloon pilots from the western states, music, entertainment, food, arts and crafts, and more.
