RI RA TO HOST 16-DAY CONCERT
Through Oct. 17 or longer, Ri Ra Irish Pub in The Shoppes at Mandalay Place, 3930 Las Vegas Blvd. South, plans to beat the world record for longest concert, with 16 days of live music. Guided by Irish musician Dave Browne, who has the Guinness World Record for marathon guitar playing, 114 hours and 6 minutes, the marathon concert is set to feature a variety of musical styles performed with at most a 25-second break between songs and a five-minute break between sets.
Participating musicians include Liam Reilly of the Irish rock band Bagatelle, Derek Warfield the founder of the Wolfe Tones, The Black Donnellys, John Windsor, Dirk Vermin, Paul Cray, Louise Barry, Sharon O’Brien, Eugene Quinn, Roy Buckley, Dave Rafferty, Dave Hughes, The American Diddley Idols, Clare Peelo, Gavin Carpenter, Na Cairde and Darby O’Gill and the Little People.
During the concert, guests can order from a special Guinness World Record menu, and during lunch or dinner Ri Ra is set to donate 20 percent of all proceeds to the Southern Nevada Affiliate of Susan G. Komen. The pub plans to raise money for the affiliate by selling pink wristbands and paper ribbon icons throughout the month and donating the proceeds.
The current record is held by AJ’s Music Cafe in Ferndale, Mich., where a concert that began on March 19, 2011, lasted for 360 hours, ending on April 3, 2011.
QUILTS OF VALOR SEEKS VOLUNTEERS

The mission for the Quilts of Valor Foundation is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing quilts of valor. WASH COMMITTEE TO HOST GREEN UP
The Las Vegas Wash Coordination Committee has scheduled its 25th volunteer planting event, the Green Up, from noon to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Clark County Wetlands Park, 7050 Wetlands Park Lane. RETREAT DESIGNED TO HELP THOSE WITH POST-TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER
A Faster EFT transformational retreat and level 1 training is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 11 and 12 at the Flamingo, 3555 Las Vegas Blvd. South. The training is designed to help people overcome post-traumatic stress disorder. The fee to participate is $395. Senior center offers quilting, crocheting, woodworking and more
The Bluebirds Quilt Circle meets from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. the second Monday of each month at the Parkdale Senior Center, 3200 Ferndale St. Participation is free with center membership.
