Favorite Sons and Daughters Oct. 8-14

Aaron Reitenour-Lee has graduated from Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego as a Marine Corps private first class E-2.

He is stationed at Camp Pendleton near San Diego to complete his Military Transition Team and Military Occupational Specialty training as an amtrac crewman.

Reitenour-Lee attended Parson Elementary School before relocating to the Houston area.

He graduated from La Porte High School in La Porte, Texas, where he was a member of the Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps Bulldog Battalion and held the rank of lieutenant colonel and the position of battalion commander.

His JROTC unit was awarded the Gold Star for being a Distinguished Honor Unit.

After completing his degree, Reitenour-Lee hopes to be accepted into Officer Candidates School.

Reitenour-Lee is the son of Cindy and Dan Master of Deer Park, Texas, and Craig Reitenour of Baytown, Texas; grandson of Roger and Mary Ann Lee, nephew of Paul and Jennifer Hemsley and Fabian and Theresa Mera, and many cousins, all of Las Vegas.

R. Taylor Jones, 15, has achieved Eagle Scout status in the Boy Scouts of America. A member of Troop 6463, Jones collected more than 1,500 pairs of new socks for the homeless to support Soles4Souls for his Eagle project.

During the summer, Jones worked at Camp Kimball Scout Reservation assisting with rock climbing and rappelling. He attended Boy Scout National Youth Leadership Training and the 2010 Boy Scout National Jamboree in Virginia.

A sophomore and honor roll student at Coronado High School, Jones enjoys playing competitive volleyball and football.

Jones is the son of David and Sandi Jones of Henderson.

Marlin Winston has graduated from Air Force basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio.

He is an Air National Guard Airman.

Winston is the son of Marlin Newson of Memphis, Tenn., and LaQuita Caldwell of Las Vegas.

Mark Horton has graduated from Air Force basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio.

A 2009 graduate of Bonanza High School, Horton is the son of Lori Horton of Derby, Kansas.

Joshua Camba has graduated from Air Force basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio.

A 2011 graduate of Green Valley High School, Camba is the son of Leonor Camba of Henderson.

Joseph Struzik has graduated from Air Force basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio.

A 2006 graduate of Foothill High School, he received an associate degree in 2012 from the College of Southern Nevada, Henderson.

Struzik is the son of John and Mary Struzik of Henderson.

Mariah Ziegenbein of Las Vegas has been named to the 2012-2013 Northern Athletics Conference Scholar-Athletes.

Ziegenbein is a student at Aurora University in Aurora, Ill.

Cesar Alvarez has graduated from Army basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.

A 2012 graduate of Desert Pines High School, Alvarez is the son of Raymundo Alvarez and Victoria Sauceda, both of Las Vegas.

Samantha Riggleman of Las Vegas has graduated from Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Va., with a Master of Arts degree in teaching.

Gino DeGeorge of Las Vegas is a member of the football team at Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee.

DeGeorge is a sophomore.

Breeana Law of Las Vegas has graduated from Cornell University Summer College in Ithaca, N.Y.

Ava Harrison has graduated from Army basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.

A 2009 graduate of Cheyenne High School, Harrison earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2013.

Harrison is the daughter of Adrian Raphiel and Lakisha Harrison, both of Las Vegas.
