Sci Fi Center to revive classic ghost show with ‘Scream Until Midnight’
October 30, 2015 - 12:15 pm
Matt "Rambles" Whitehead said audiences should expect the unexpected at his new show "Scream Until Midnight," a late-night spookshow revival set to haunt the Sci Fi Center, 5077 Arville St., from 9:30 p.m. to midnight Nov. 7.
"This show specifically seeks to create a connection to the bygone era of the original midnight ghost shows," Whitehead said via email.
He explained that the almost-forgotten shows were over-the-top with a combination of theatrical performance and movie exhibition.
"It gave teenagers of the time an excuse to stay out late," he said. "It gave performing magicians of the time another way to exhibit their talent."
Whitehead said "Scream Until Midnight" is set to include magic, mystery, a bit of mayhem, a screening of "The House on Haunted Hill," and maybe even a ghost or two.
"If you like comic books, late-night horror hosts, paranormal and ghost hunting events, perhaps horror films and ghost stories, or if long walks in the graveyard are your thing, then this show is for you," he said.
Whitehead said he hesitates to reveal too much about his plans for the evening, in hopes of maintaining some mystery, but he promised it will be unique.
"This event is a culmination of several years of my dreams as a performer," he said.
Whitehead, now a North Las Vegas resident, had his first foray into entertainment in haunted houses where he stretched his skills from acting to makeup artistry, set design and prop construction. While training in California as a makeup artist, he encountered a street magician and was so inspired he took to the streets of Hollywood pursuing magic.
"It has literally taken me around the world," Whitehead said.
