Flock & Fowl opens with fundraiser

Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman will be on hand at 11 a.m. Friday for the official opening of Flock & Fowl’s downtown location in the Ogden. Festivities will include a lion dance, passed appetizers and sparkling wine and a raffle for T-shirts and gift certificates. And for those who decide to sit down and explore the full menu, a portion of the day’s proceeds will go to Three Square food bank.

A soulful show at Container Park

Local soul singer Jessica Manalo will perform Saturday night at the Downtown Container Park, 707 Fremont St. Manalo has headlined the SLS Sayers Club, Brooklyn Bowl and Hotel Café in Hollywood. You can catch her set outdoors, under the stars, between 7:30 and 10:30 p.m.

Jersey day set for Las Vegas Lights

The city’s new soccer team, Las Vegas Lights, will unveil their team jerseys from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Zappos campus, 400 Stewart Ave. The whole team will be on hand, signing autographs and posing for photos, and season ticket holders will be able to pick up their free jerseys.

New Yorker reporter to discuss coverage

Author Amanda Fortini will read and discuss some of her work covering the Oct. 1 Route 91 Harvest festival shooting from 7-8 p.m. Friday at The Writer’s Block, 1020 Fremont St. Fortini wrote about the tragedy for The New Yorker magazine. Among the topics she’ll cover are how she conducted interviews and her writing methods and influences.
