Valley residents can jump out of the heat into indoor bounce parks

Las Vegas summers are known for heat. With typical temperatures of more than 100 degrees, it can get difficult to stay physically active without the sun’s rays burning skin and motivation.

Bounce houses and trampoline parks around the valley offer Las Vegas residents a chance to stay fit and cool through the summer.

With an arcade and four-story laser tag area, Flip N Out, 1841 E. Craig Road in North Las Vegas, has a 10,000-square-foot trampoline arena, inflatable bouncers and an AIRobics class open to all ages.

“It’s just a good time; it’s a wholesome environment,” said Taylor Eliason, Flip N Out manager.

Customers can enjoy an hour for $10 at Flip N Out and $8 for a second hour from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Kevin Francis has taken his kids, Joey and Ashleigh, 12 and 13, to Flip N Out several times because they like jumping on the trampolines.

“It’s an opportunity to burn off some of that energy,” Francis said.

The trampoline arena is separated into two areas for safety: one for kids younger than 5 and one for older kids.

Flip N Out also has an AIRobics — aerobics on trampolines — class from 7 to 8 p.m. Mondays for those interested in exercising in a fun, unique way.

“(Flip N Out) is fun for the whole family,” Eliason said. “You could burn a good four hours here, and when you’re done, your kids are bound to fall asleep in your car on the drive home.”

Less than 15 miles away, Pump It Up, 3200 W. Sunset Road, No. 100, features two arenas with large inflatables, including a castle-type jumper, double slides, a slippery slope and obstacle courses. Customers can also enjoy Motion Mania, an interactive game in which kids can pop bubbles with their feet.

“Kids love that one,” said Kristen Russo, a Pump It Up shift manager.

Pump It Up offers an open jump Pop and Play for walk-ins from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for $7 per guest. Adults are free with a paying child. Customers can schedule birthday parties in between those hours or for Saturdays and Sundays.

“It’s something the entire family can do; no one has to sit around and be bored,” Russo said. “Anything that gets the kids up and playing is good fun.”

Pump It Up also has a summer camp for kids from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Tuesday.

While at camp, kids will get their share of exercise, as well as craft and snack time, Russo said. Parents who would like their kids to participate need to register them before attending. The Pump It Up summer camp is $20 per child and $15 per sibling.

The Pump It Up franchise has teamed with Autism Speaks to schedule a Great Open Jump from 6 to 8 p.m. July 24 to raise money for the organization. All funds made that day will be donated to Autism Speaks.

In Henderson, residents can also sign their kids up for the Create and Bounce camp at Bounce U, 1000 Stephanie Place. The program, planned from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, offers kids creative, physical activities.

A different theme is offered each week of the camp. Camp fees are $19 for a half day and $39 for a full day. Parents can also purchase three half-days for $49 and three full days for $99 or a week of half days for $79 and a week of full days for $149.

At Bounce U, there are also a variety of open bounces for the public. Preschool Playdate, for children 7 or younger, is set from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Fridays for $7.

Parents and nonwalking children are free when accompanying a paying child. Guests must wear socks at all times.

The All-Ages Open Bounce is set from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays through Fridays and from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays for $7.

Family Bounce Night is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays for $7. Reservations are recommended.

Customers also have the option of purchasing a passport for unlimited bounce access through the summer. Summer passports are $49.99 for the first child and $39.99 for siblings.

Sky Zone indoor trampoline park combines trampolines to give customers one massive surface on which to jump, flip and bounce. Enclosed with trampoline walls, customers have an unlimited jumping range in any direction.

Sky Zone offers a 3-D dodgeball championship. Players 16 or older can form teams with up to eight on a roster and compete during local qualifier dates held between Aug. 1-4. The cost per team is $50.

While Sky Zone on Steptoe Street is closed, a new location is set to open on Dean Martin Drive, off Warm Springs Road near the Silverton Casino, in mid-July.
