The driver who fled the scene Friday night after hitting a pedestrian in the central valley was still at large Saturday morning.
About 10 p.m. Friday, Anibal William Cabrejos-Villarroel, 51, was pushing a shopping cart down East Desert Inn Road, east of South Topaz Street, when police said a vehicle struck the pedestrian. The driver left the scene before Metropolitan Police Department officers arrived.
Cabrejos-Villarroel was transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, police said. On Saturday morning, Cabrejos-Villarroel remained in critical condition.
In a statement, the Police Department said the vehicle involved could be a red Ford Fusion or a similar vehicle missing a passenger side mirror. The car would be damaged on the front right side, police said.
