Dust advisory in effect for Las Vegas Valley

A dust advisory has been issued for Wednesday by the Clark County Department of Air Quality and Environmental Management.

High winds sweeping through the Las Vegas Valley are bringing the possibility for blowing dust, especially for the eastern parts of the valley.

Air quality officials say dust levels aren’t unhealthy at this point but advise those with respiratory diseases to stay indoors. The department asks construction site operators to take precautions to prevent blowing dust. Residents are urged to also take precautions and avoid driving fast on unpaved roads, ride any off-road vehicles in approved areas and cover up any barren property with rocks, gravel or other desert-friendly landscaping.

The county’s air levels can be monitored on the Air Quality Department’s forecast page at http://redrock.clarkcountynv.gov/forecast/.
