A former tennis coach was sentenced Monday to a year in jail in a child molestation case.
Jason Sugai, 37, in July pleaded guilty to one felony count of attempted lewdness with a child under the age of 14. As part of a deal, prosecutors dropped three counts of luring a minor with technology and two counts of lewdness with a minor under 14 years old.
Sugai was sentenced by District Judge Ken Cory to a year at the Clark County Detention Center followed by four years of probation.
Sugai’s lawyer, Ozzie Fumo, said his client was deemed a low risk to reoffend.
Sugai was arrested in December by Henderson police. He was a privately contracted tennis coach.
