Henderson police seek driver who struck, killed cyclist

Henderson police are seeking the public’s help in locating a suspect in a fatal hit-and-run crash with a bicyclist.

Police issued a warrant for the arrest of Cesar Gutierrez, 35, on Nov. 20. He faces felony charges that include leaving the scene of an accident involving a death, reckless driving and striking a bicycle.

He is suspected to be the driver of an Acura Integra that struck Mario Regalado, 43, while Regalado rode a bike Nov. 15 near Eastern and Evansville avenues. Regalado died at St. Rose Dominican Hospital Siena campus.

Gutierrez is 6 feet tall, about 150 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes.

Police said Gutierrez was sentenced to an alternative sentencing work program after he was arrested on July 13 for stealing a car, driving without a driver’s license or insurance and displaying a false license plate. His alternative sentencing allowed him to enter a work program that automatically applied his wages towards his fines.
