High winds forecast for Thursday in Las Vegas Valley
Strong wind gusts of up to 45 mph are expected Thursday between 11 a.m to late evening, the National Weather Service said.
A red flag warning is in effect in Las Vegas and its surrounding areas. This means high wind gusts in combination with low humidity could create “extreme fire behavior,” according to the weather service.
People with breathing conditions are advised to stay indoors if possible, the weather service said.

Slower driving is encouraged as high winds produce lower visibility, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation. It also cautions drivers to hold on to the wheel, especially in larger vehicles.
