Hiker falls 30 to 40 feet at Red Rock

A hiker fell 30 to 40 feet at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area Saturday afternoon, according to Las Vegas police.

About 3:40 p.m., the hiker fell 30 to 40 feet at Blue Velvet Canyon, Metro officer Lt. Jeff Goodwin said.

Metro Search and Rescue assisted the hiker off the mountain, he said. The hiker self-transported to a hospital.

No additional details were available.
