Las Vegas man arrested in connection to December stabbing

Las Vegas police arrested a man Friday in connection to a fatal stabbing that happened in the east valley last month.
The stabbing happened Dec. 16, after a group of people started brawling around noon, police said. The big fight continued into the Canyon Pointe apartment complex at 5501 E. Harmon Ave., where police later found Kyth Anthony Johnson, 28, dead with apparent stab wounds.
At the time, no suspect description was released. But on Friday, Brandon Olds, 30, of Las Vegas was booked at the Clark County Detention Center on one charge of open murder with a deadly weapon. He is being held without bail, according to jail records.
Court records show Olds was previously convicted of a domestic-violence battery charge in 2004. That same year, he was convicted of manslaughter and voluntary manslaughter, for which he served two consecutive sentences of 30 to 84 months in prison.
Last February, court records show Olds was also convicted of carrying a concealed weapon, a gross misdemeanor.
A month before that charge, in January of last year, Olds shared a photo on Facebook. It was one of his most recent public posts, and it read: "A man must be BIG enough to admit his mistakes, SMART enough to profit from them, and STRONG enough to correct them."
