Las Vegas names new municipal court administrator

Dana Hlavac, a lawyer with management experience, was chosen as the new court administrator for the Las Vegas Municipal Court, replacing Matt Fisk.

Hlavac has worked as a prosecutor and public defender. He earned his law degree from the University of Denver and worked as an assistant district attorney in Trinidad, Colo., before beginning his tenure with Mohave County, Ariz. He was a public defender in Mohave County and later became the deputy county manager.

His salary will be $120,000.

He was chosen out of 64 applicants. The Las Vegas City Council unanimously approved his selection.

Councilman Bob Coffin said Hlavac will have to deal with revenues that have dropped because fewer tickets are being written, but the city is calm compared to Mohave County.
