Las Vegas police investigate central valley shooting

Las Vegas police are investigating a shooting in the central valley that left one man hospitalized Tuesday afternoon.

According to Metro spokeswoman Laura Meltzer, police received their first call reporting gunshots in the 3300 block of Michael Way, near Smoke Ranch Road, a few minutes before 1:30 p.m.

Just a few minutes later, police dispatch received a call that a man was lying on the ground in the 5700 block of Cabrillo Circle.

Meltzer said police were able to link the two calls, and the scene of the shooting was the apartment complex on Michael Way.

The man, described as in his mid-twenties, was sent to University Medical Center. He had been shot several times and the extent of his injuries was unknown Tuesday evening, but police said he was in stable condition.

Police were in the process of collecting statements, and detectives from Metro’s gang unit had been requested. Lt. Mark Reddon said the man may have a history with gang involvement.

As of 9 p.m., police had no updates about suspects.
