Las Vegas police seek clues in woman’s slaying

Las Vegas police are asking for the public’s help in the investigation of the death of a 41-year-old woman whose body was found Nov. 15, Metro said in a Tuesday release.

Julia Garcia, also known as Julia Lopez-Maravilla, was found wrapped in plastic by the side of the road at East Lake Mead Boulevard and Pabco Road by a private search and rescue company looking for another missing woman.

Garcia was last seen the morning of Nov. 5 at her northeast Las Vegas home.

Lopez-Maravilla was identified Saturday by the Clark County coroner’s office. Her death was ruled a homicide by strangulation, the coroner said.

Anyone with information about Garcia’s death should contact Metro’s homicide unit at 702-828-3521 or at homicide@lvmpd.com or, to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or visit www.crimestoppersofnv.com. Tips directly leading to an arrest through Crime Stoppers may result in a cash reward.
