Las Vegas shelter waiving adoption fees in Pomeranian promotion

Pomeranian-fever has subsided, but The Animal Foundation still has animals it’s looking to re-home.

In the wake of the recent drive to find homes for over 100 abandoned Pomeranians, The Animal Foundation is launching the “We’re Pomeranians, too!” promotion, offering free adoptions for all bunnies, dogs and cats 6 months and older.

In late November, 164 Pomeranians were found in a box truck in Sandy Valley. Officials say a “backyard breeder” was tipped off of a house search at her home in San Bernardino, California, and loaded the dogs into crates, many with three to five dogs in them.

A handful of dogs were adopted through a promotion with the Golden Knights, and the rest of the dogs were adopted through an online lottery.

“Thanks to the incredible response by our community to help find homes for the rescued and highly desirable Pomeranians, we are able to offer this opportunity for people to adopt our other shelter pets, including our older and difficult-to-adopt animals, without charging an adoption fee,” Christine Robinson, chief executive officer for The Animal Foundation, said in an emailed statement.

The promotion runs Thursday through Sunday and includes microchipping, vaccines and spay or neuter surgery. Available animals can be found at animalfoundation.com.
