Las Vegas teen killed in drive-by shooting identified

The Clark County coroner’s office on Tuesday identified the teenager who was killed in a drive-by shooting near Sahara Avenue and Decatur Boulevard Sunday evening.

Jose Hernandez Peña, 16, of Las Vegas and four other people were sitting in a vehicle waiting at a red light near the Sahara and Decatur intersection when someone in another vehicle opened fire, striking him multiple times, Las Vegas police said.

The vehicle Hernandez Peña was in drove to the 5200 block of Stampa Avenue. First responders arrived and found him lying on a driveway, police said. Hernandez Peña later died at University Medical Center.

On Monday, it was only known that the shooter was riding in a dark-colored vehicle, police said.
