Man booked in California linked to Las Vegas slaying

Las Vegas police said the man they believe is responsible for a deadly shooting at a west valley convenience store last week was arrested in California on Wednesday night.

Sam McFarland, 32, was arrested in Modesto, Calif., and is going to be extradited back to Las Vegas to face charges for the shooting, said Metro spokeswoman Laura Meltzer.

The Modesto Police Department said McFarland was picked up on a warrant from an incident in Las Vegas, but did not reveal any details about the arrest.

Officers were called to a 7-Eleven parking lot on West Sahara Avenue, near Interstate 15, shortly before 6 p.m. on July 17.

Police said they found 23-year-old Krystal Starr McAdow with a gunshot wound to the chest. She later died at University Medical Center.

A man entered McAdow’s vehicle when she stopped at the convenience store, and a second man drove up to her vehicle and shot her once through the front window.
