Man hospitalized, 1 arrested after DUI rollover crash in east valley

A man suffered critical injuries and another man was arrested Saturday morning after an east valley rollover, Las Vegas police said.

Officers were called to the rollover near Nellis Boulevard and Sahara Avenue shortly before 3 a.m., police said.

Six passengers, ranging from ages 18 to 21, were in a 2000 GMC Sierra 2500 truck that was travelling south on Nellis. When turning left on Sahara, the driver lost control, hit a curb and rolled over near the intersection, police said.

The truck landed on its roof in a Walgreen’s parking lot, police said.

Two passengers riding in the truck’s bed were ejected, police said. One of them, Austin Pugh, 19, suffered critical injuries and was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center Trauma, Lt. James Mizusaki said.

All of the remaining passengers stayed on the scene, police said. Three of them suffered minor injuries.

Jesse McNeil, the 19-year-old driver was arrested after failing a sobriety test, police said.

Metro’s fatal detail was investigating due to the severity of the injuries, Mizusaki said.
