Man killed in auto-pedestrian accident identified

The pedestrian killed after being struck by a vehicle Saturday night has been identified by the Clark County coroner’s office Monday morning.

Ruben Ruvalcaba, a 35-year-old Las Vegas man, was fatally struck by a 2002 Cadillac DeVille about 10:48 p.m. near Sands Avenue, west of Howard Hughes Parkway, Las Vegas police said in a release Sunday.

Statements from the 62-year-old male driver of the Cadillac and evidence at the scene indicate Ruvalcaba was wearing dark clothing when he crossed southbound on Sands, outside of a crosswalk.

Ruvalcaba was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The driver stayed at the scene. He did not appear to be impaired, the release said.
