Man who died last month after crash near downtown Las Vegas identified

The Clark County coroner’s office has identified the 75-year-old man who died after a crash near downtown last month.
On May 28, Las Vegas resident James Hewett lost control of his 1989 Chevy Corvette on Washington Avenue, west of Bruce Street, and crashed into a tree. Police said Hewett was racing a motorcycle rider before the crash.
Hewett was taken to University Medical Center where he later died. The coroner determined he died from blunt force injuries, and his death was ruled an accident.
