Man, woman arrested in Aug. 17 stabbing death

Two suspects were booked into the Clark County Detention Center Monday in connection to the stabbing death of a Las Vegas man last week, county arrest records show.

Jerry Holman, 22, and Mariah Rose Whitemagpie, 24, were booked on charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the death of Nigel Hewitt, according to booking records.

Hewitt, 25, was stabbed to death Aug. 17 in the 2500 block of Karen Avenue, near Eastern and Sahara avenues.

According to an arrest report, Holman, Whitemagpie and a third person were walking through the Lake Sahara Apartment complex knocking on doors and looking for a woman named Shannon. Holman told several people “Shannon” owed him money.

Witnesses told police the three were “agitated and aggressive,” and were asking everyone, including the children playing in the complex, if they had seen the woman.

At some point, the group began to argue with Hewitt. Words turned to violence, and Hewitt tried to run after Holman brandished a knife, according to the arrest report.

But Hewitt didn’t get far, police said.

His father found him bleeding to death from several stab wounds just outside their front door, the report said. Hewitt died from his wounds minutes later at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center.

Several witnesses quickly told police Holman and Whitemagpie, who has a tattoo of a feather under her left eye, were involved in the confrontation.

Police have not identified the third person. He is described as a man in his early 20s, standing 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 210 pounds. He has black spiky hair and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt shirt and jeans.

Both Holman and Whitemagpie had previous felony convictions in Clark County.

Holman pleaded guilty to choking and beating his girlfriend in 2011 and was given probation, according to court documents. Holman violated his parole in 2012 and spent spent 11 months in prison.

Whitemagpie was convicted on two robbery charges in 2009, court records show.

Hewitt’s death was the 83rd homicide in Metro’s jurisdiction in 2014.
