Metro finds car of man killed in east valley

Police on Friday found the car of a man who was shot and killed last week in the east valley, Metro said on Tuesday.

Detectives still haven't determined the exact motive for the shooting that left 72-year-old Eugene Elliott dead, but said that his car was found without tires.

Initially, police said that Elliott had been dead between 12 and 24 hours and that his house in the 5200 block of Crater Circle "had been gone through."

On Aug. 19, Elliott's body was found about 10:40 a.m. at his house by a maintenance worker, near the intersection of Boulder Highway and Harmon Avenue, close to Sam's Town casino.

Police found Elliott's car, a 2013 Cadillac ATS, on Friday near East Hacienda Avenue and South Nellis Boulevard, about 2 miles from his house.

Metro on Tuesday released Elliott's department of motor vehicles photo.
