Metro to conduct sobriety checkpoint near Charleston, Rampart

Metro’s Traffic Bureau along with officers from area commands will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in the west valley next week.

The checkpoint will be conducted near West Charleston and South Rampart boulevards from 7 p.m. Tuesday to 3 a.m. Wednesday.

This location has had 87 traffic incidents, drunken drivers and traffic accidents, and two fatal accidents in the past six months.

The goal is to boost roadway safety in the area by identifying drug- and alcohol-impaired drivers, including juveniles and adults.

The checkpoint is supported by the Enforcing Under Age Drinking Laws grant.
