Motorcyclist critical after early morning crash

A motorcyclist was critically injured early Tuesday morning east of downtown Las Vegas, according to Metro.

The collision happened just before 4 a.m. when a 2015 Nissan Sentra headed east on Charleston Boulevard made a left turn onto northbound 26th Street, near Fremont Street, and into the path of a motorcycle headed west on Charleston, police said.

The front of the Sentra struck the front of the motorcycle and the rider of the 2010 Yamaha XVS650 motorcycle, 19-year-old Travis Colella, was thrown from the bike, according to a police report.

Colella was taken to University Medical Center with critical injuries, police said.

The 21-year-old woman who was driving the Sentra stayed at the scene and passed field sobriety testing, the release said.

Metro’s Fatal Detail responded to the crash.
