Nevada Highway Patrol identifies moped driver killed in crash

The man who was hospitalized when his moped struck a car in the northwest part of the valley Friday morning has died and been identified by the Nevada Highway Patrol.

In statement, the highway patrol said Christopher Orvosh, 43, of Las Vegas was traveling north on Rampart Boulevard approaching the Summerlin Parkway eastbound on-ramp, about 4:30 a.m. when a white Chrysler 300 traveling south on Rampart Boulevard with a green light tried to turn left. Orvosh ran through a red traffic signal and entered the intersection, striking the Chrysler. He was thrown from the moped, the release said.

Orvosh was taken to University Medical Center, where he died from his injuries on Sunday. He may have been driving while impaired, the highway patrol said.

The Chrysler’s driver was not injured, called 911, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, the release said.
