NLV police arrest man in connection with fatal hit-and-run

North Las Vegas police have arrested a man in connection with a fatal hit and run Saturday.

At about 9 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to a crash at the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard North and Hamilton street where a 24-year-old man on a moped was struck by another vehicle. Medical responders pronounced the man, who has not yet been identified, dead at the scene.

In a release Sunday, police said that investigators learned that a Toyota Camry fled the scene after hitting the moped, which witnesses said was traveling at a high rate of speed. According to the release, a neighboring police agency located the vehicle and the driver, identified as David Cameron, 35.

Alcohol appears to be a factor in this case, police said.

Cameron was arrested for felony driving under the influence resulting in death, felony duty to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in death and reckless driving resulting in death, police said

The moped driver's identity and cause and manner of his death are pending release from the Clark County Coroner's Office, police said.
