Pedestrian critical after being struck by car near Eastern and Karen; intersection closed

A pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in the southeast valley Monday morning, according to police.

It happened near the intersection of Eastern and Karen avenues about 9:30a.m., police say. The intersection is closed while police investigate the crash.

The pedestrian was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center Trauma in critical condition. No further information, including gender and age, was available.

It was not immediately known what caused the crash or if the pedestrian was in a marked crosswalk, Metro Lt. Price said.
