Pedestrian hit, killed by car Thursday night in southeast Las Vegas

A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car while crossing Flamingo Road in southeast Las Vegas late Thursday night.

Las Vegas police said about 11:15 p.m. a man was crossing Flamingo west of Tamarus Street outside of a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a 2004 Nissan Armada eastbound on Flamingo.

The man, later identified by the Clark County coroner’s office as Ernesto Jose Lizama, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police. The coroner’s office said Lizama died of blunt force injuries, and his death was ruled an accident.

This is the 67th traffic-related death Metro has investigated this year.
