Pedestrian killed after being struck by vehicle in east Las Vegas ID’d

The pedestrian killed by a vehicle Aug. 10 on Boulder Highway has been identified.

Joao Gil Siqueira, 60, was identified by the Clark County coroner’s office, which has not released the cause and manner of death.

According to police, Siqueira was crossing Boulder Highway at South Nellis Boulevard against a “Don’t Walk” sign. A 2013 Ford Focus, driven by 53-year-old Joaqun Garcia-Huitron, was heading north on Boulder Highway and was approaching the intersection at a green light when it struck Siqueira, Metro said.

Siqueira died at the scene. Garcia-Huitron remained at scene and did not show signs of impairment, police said.

Siqueira’s death was the 63rd traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction in 2016.
