Police: Pedestrians hit Friday in northeast LV were outside crosswalk

Two pedestrians involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash Friday night in the northeast valley were not in a crosswalk when they were hit, according to Las Vegas police.

Metro officers were called just before 8:20 p.m. to Las Vegas Boulevard N., just south of North Walnut Road, where a 44-year-old woman had been pushing a 46-year-old man in a wheelchair across Las Vegas Boulevard outside of a crosswalk, the department wrote in a release early Saturday.

An unknown vehicle was northbound on Las Vegas Boulevard in the left lane when it hit the pedestrians. The vehicle fled northbound on Las Vegas Boulevard, the release said.

Both pedestrians were both taken to University Medical Center, where the man died, the release said.

The Las Vegas woman, Judith Terrell, suffered "serious" injuries, the release said. Metro on Friday said Terrell did not have life-threatening injuries.

Police said the car involved in the crash could be an early 1990s, dark-colored Nissan Sedan.

This is the 114th traffic-related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction this year. The man who died will be identified by the Clark County coroner's office after his family has been notified.
