Police seek man in fatal west valley shooting

Las Vegas police are looking for a man in connection with an early morning shooting that left one woman dead and one woman hospitalized.

Police received multiple calls about 2:37 a.m. Saturday about a shooting in the parking lot of a restaurant in the 9700 block of Flamingo Road.

Patrol officers found two women suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. One woman was sent to University Medical Center, and the other woman died at the scene.

The preliminary investigation by homicide detectives indicated the man got into an argument with several people at a large gathering at a restaurant. The confrontation turned physical in the parking lot, police said.

After the fight, the man went to his vehicle, drove by the crowd and fired multiple rounds. Police said the man fired multiple rounds again as he was leaving.

Detectives have named 27 year-old Carim Cruz as a suspect in the shooting. Cruz is 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs about 165 pounds, police said. He is further described as having black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen leaving in a dark blue four-door Mercedes Benz with Nevada license plates.

Cruz should be considered armed and dangerous.

The identity of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office once her family has been notified.

This is the 81st homicide investigated by Metro in 2014.
