Rapper and reality star Mally Mall’s Las Vegas home catches fire, pet wildcat dies

A fire at the home of a rapper and reality television star known for his work with Snoop Dogg and Chris Brown left a pet wildcat dead Thursday, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

Mally Mall’s $1.5 million southeast valley home at 4311 E. Oquendo Road, near East Russell Road and Mountain Vista Street, caught fire about 1:15 p.m. Upon arrival, crews found large amounts of smoke and flames coming from the two-story home.

Firefighters were able to knock down the blaze in less than 20 minutes, the department said.

Southwest Gas and NV Energy were called to assist with utilities. Animal control was asked to respond for the wildcat, specifically identified as a caracal, which was found unresponsive in the home. Fire officials later said it had died.

Mall’s home is listed under another name associated with him, Jamal Rashid, according to property records. He bought the home in 2005.

He is known to keep exotic animals. In videos previously posted to YouTube, Mall has shown off his animal collection, which includes another caracal, a snake, a capuchin monkey and a serval — a medium-sized African wildcat.

Clark County officials confirmed Mall had permits for all the animals, noting that a permit for the snake had recently expired but could be renewed.

Mall, who also is a music producer, stars in the VH1 cable reality series “Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood” and has been the subject of Hollywood gossip, including his dating of actress Carmen Electra.

In 2014, FBI agents executed separate search warrants at his home and his company, Las Vegas Concierge VS1, as part of a federal human trafficking investigation. The investigation is ongoing, and the Nevada U.S. attorney’s office and a special human trafficking unit in the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division in Washington are handling the case, the Review-Journal has previously reported.

It is unclear what started the Thursday blaze, and the Fire Department has not yet estimated damages.

No human injuries and no other animal injuries were reported.
