Three men indicted in Las Vegas mortgage fraud

Three men were indicted Friday in a Las Vegas mortgage fraud scheme in which five people were “swindled out of their life savings,” according to prosecutors.

Orlando Vera, Jose Christian Delgado and Juan Estaban Robles each face several charges, including theft, transactions involving fraud and deceit, and mortgage lending fraud.

Between November 2012 and January, the men ran a business called Real Estate Development, which targeted the Hispanic community, according to Jeff Segal with the Nevada Attorney General’s Office. The defendants swindled about $248,000 from the victims, Segal said.

Chief Judge Jennifer Togliatti set bail for Vera at $500,000 and $250,000 for Delgado and Robles.

Vera, the ringleader of the alleged scheme, threatened to shoot one of the victims, according to Segal.
