July 20, 2014 - 5:08 pm
Two people went missing while swimming at Lake Mead National Recreation Area on Sunday, park officials say.
One man jumped off of a boat at Willow Beach, about 15 miles south of Hoover Dam, just before noon to swim, park spokeswoman Christie Vanover said. He never returned.
The second man went missing at 2:21 p.m. while swimming near Boulder Islands on Lake Mead.
Park rangers and game wardens with the Nevada Department of Wildlife are working with Metro’s Search and Rescue dive team to search for the men.
One other swimmer was rescued in a near-drowning at Ski Cove. The man was transported to a Las Vegas hospital by helicopter and is expected to recover.
