Woman, 92, hit and killed by car identified

The 92-year-old woman hit and killed by a vehicle in the central valley Thursday has been identified by the Clark County coroner's office.

Ivanka Moutafova was crossing the westbound lanes of Tropicana Avenue toward Charlie Frias Park at 5:43 p.m. when she was hit by a car, according to police.

Carmen Cardenas, 56, was driving the 2000 Nissan Maxima that struck Moutafova, who was not in a marked crosswalk.

Cardenas came to an immediate stop and remained at the scene, police said. Moutafova was taken to University Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

It was the 112th traffic related fatality of the year in Metro's jurisdiction. The collision remains under investigation.
