Woman dies after snorkeling at Lake Mead

A woman died Sunday afternoon after snorkeling at the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, the National Park Service said.

The woman surfaced from the lake unconscious while snorkeling in the Overton Arm of Lake Mead just after 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

She was transported by boat to Calville Bay but medical responders could not revive her. She was pronounced dead at 2:36 p.m.

This incident was almost 24 hours after a diver died after exploring the submerged B-29 bomber at the lake.
