Woman killed, man wounded in overnight east valley shooting

Las Vegas police are looking for two men they said shot at three people at a long-term hotel in the east valley, killing a woman and wounding a man early Monday morning.

A man and two women were walking shortly after 12 a.m. through the Sportsman's Royal Manor complex, 5600 Boulder Highway, near Tropicana Avenue, when they were approached by two men, police said.

The shooting happened after an argument between the two groups. Iris Rene Spiller, 37, died at the scene and the man with her was shot in the leg. The second woman in the trio wasn't struck.

Spiller died of a gunshot wound to the face, according to the Clark County coroner's office.

The two men fled in a silver four-door sedan, police said, not releasing further descriptions. The wounded man was expected to recover at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center.
