Following days of warmer-than-average weather, strong winds and low temperatures Monday chilled the Las Vegas Valley, where some areas saw light snowfall.

The snow came mostly as "light dustings" in parts of the valley above 3,000 feet, National Weather Service meteorologist Caleb Steele said.

While McCarran International Airport didn't get any measurable snow, the Anthem community in Henderson reported 2 inches, said meteorologist Nathan Foster. Rainfall at the airport totaled about a quarter-inch both Sunday and Monday.

Mount Charleston reported 4 inches of snow Sunday evening, and 8 more inches fell overnight, Foster said.

Winds gusted up to 45 mph in the valley, and Monday's high temperature reached only 47 degrees, 13 degrees below normal for this time of year, Foster said.

Winds will be "quite a bit lighter" on Tuesday, Foster said.

Tuesday's high temperature is expected to be 46 degrees; the forecast low is 32 degrees.

From then on, the valley will see temperatures warm a few degrees every day, Foster said. The weather service forecasts temperatures back in the low 60s by Sunday.
